Sanjay Van – Delhi

Sanjay Van, which stretches across a sizable forest near Vasant Kunj in South Delhi, is densely forested and acts as the green lung of the city. The forest, which covers an area of 3 square kilometers, is home to a variety of tree species and various kinds of avifauna. For the same reason, many birdwatchers and bikers frequent Sanjay Van, stopping by to enjoy some morning cycling and fresh air.

A nice diversion from the hustle and bustle of the city is Sanjay Van. The woodland is home to a diverse range of fauna and is regarded as a favorite among naturalists. Apart from the aforementioned birds, the forest also preserves habitat for various other animals such as snakes, nilgais, jackals, grey-breasted prinia, crested honey buzzard, rufous treepie, Indian paradise flycatcher, purple sunbird, Asian koel, Brahminy starling, Indian silverbill, white-throated kingfisher, and so on.

There are five ponds in Delhi’s Sanjay Van. Water from Neela Hauz Lake and processed sewage from Vasant Kunj Sewage Treatment Plant are fed into the first pond. After passing through ponds two, three, and four, the water from pond one eventually enters pond five. The water from Pond Five is transferred to Hauz Khas Lake for recreational usage via drain pipes.

Key Information about Sanjay Van

Timings: The Sanjay Van entrance is open from 6:00 am till 8:00 pm. Sanjay Van Delhi is also closed at night. At night, guards stand watch at the gates to ensure that nobody can get in.
Days of operation: Sunday is included in the entire week that the Sanjay Van is open.
Cost of a Sanjay Van ticket: The official cost of admission to the Van is the entry fee. The boating entrance fee for Sanjay Van Delhi is Rs. 50 per person.
