Kausani is one such village in Uttarakhand that is also enjoying its position as a charming hill station. It’s a writer’s paradise and a backpacker’s paradise.

Arriving at this charming hill station without a plan is the best way to discover it. You may easily lose a whole day to seeing the breathtaking display of hues on the peaks that encircle Kausani. Nestled between the verdant hills and the crimson sun, Kausani is renowned for providing an expansive vista of the towering Himalayan peaks, including Trishul, Nanda Devi, and the formidable Panchachuli peaks. It is situated atop a ridge covered with forests of blue pine and chir pine. Take in a picture-perfect sunrise from one of the village’s many observation points. The snow-capped peaks reflect every shade of the rising golden orb as the sun peeks over the horizon.

More than 50 different species of birds, including woodpeckers, barbets, parakeets, robins, and forktails, can be seen in this heaven for birdwatchers. One suitable place to see birds is the Kausani Tea Estate. The majority of the filming for the 2003 Hrithik Roshan film Koi Mil Gaya took place in Kausani.
