Auli’s natural beauty is abundant, with old oaks, pine trees, and apple orchards all over the place. The Nanda Devi, Mana Parvat, and Kamat Kamet mountain ranges are situated there, 2800 meters above sea level. Around Auli, there are also a lot of places of worship.

BEST TIME TO VISIT

December to March is the ideal time of year to go skiing in Auli. Though any time of year is a good time to visit Auli. In this stunning hill station, the summer months of April through June are ideal for enjoying nice weather. Since snow skiing is one of the main draws for tourists, any period between November and March is a great time to visit and enjoy the snow activities. The best months to enjoy leisurely outdoor activities are May through November, when the weather is often nice. Auli transforms into a snow paradise from December to February, so if you plan to visit the hill station during these months, bring enough of woolly clothing for a cozy stay. These months are also perfect for skiing; however, since Auli has artificial snow all year round, skiing is possible throughout the year.

Skiing in Auli: Beautiful vistas of peaks including Mt. Nanda Devi Kamet, Mana Parwat, Dunagiri, Beethartoli, Nilkanth, Hathi Parbat, Ghori Parbat, and Nar Parbat can be seen while skiing in Auli. At 2000–3000 meters above sea level, the snow-covered hill station of Auli, surrounded by an oak forest and evergreen conifers, is the perfect location for skiing in India. While skiing in Auli, some of the extremely uncommon Himalayan animals can be found in abundance in the Gorson Reserve forest, which is a part of the Nanda Devi National Park. Snow Leopards, Musk Deer, Bears, Fox, Hyenas, Wild Boars, and Wild Cats are a few of these. The best skiing spots in the world, according to French and Austrian experts, are the snow-covered slopes of Auli, which used to serve as a training area for the paramilitary forces.

Treeking in Auli: Trekking on some of the best Himalayan range slopes is possible in Auli. With peaks that range in elevation from roughly 2500 to 3000 meters, Auli offers trekking enthusiasts several well-marked trails. From Auli, you can hike up to Himalayan peaks including Joshimath, Kamet, Mana Parvat, Nanda Devi, and Dunagiri. The Gorson, Tali, Khulara, Kuari Pass, and Tapovan trekking ranges are additional smaller ones. Numerous treks also use Joshimath as a base camp.

Auli Cable Car: With a total length of 4 km and an operating altitude of 3010 meters above sea level, Auli is home to Asia’s longest and tallest cable car (gondola) ride. Joshimath is the lowest station, and it takes around 25 minutes to go to Auli. It can accommodate 25 passengers on a single journey and has ten towers. For a single individual, the cost of a return trip is approximately 1000 INR. Children who are older than five pay the full price. The cable car opens for business at 8:30 AM and runs until 6:00 PM.

Over the past ten years, Kausani has grown significantly as a tourist destination, with hotels to suit every budget. The cheaper hotels are located near the local market, while the finer ones are located uptown close to the Gandhi Ashram.

HOW TO REACH

Taking a bus from Delhi to Rishikesh is the most convenient method to get to Auli. This is an overnight trip. You have two options for transportation from Rishikesh: a shared taxi to Joshimath (8 hours) or a private taxi straight to Auli (9 hours). Taking a shared taxi to Joshimath and then boarding India’s Second Longest Cable Car to Auli might be a more enjoyable option. After riding this 16-kilometer cable car for 22 minutes, which offers you breath-taking vistas of the Himalayan Garhwal Ranges, you can take a taxi from Rishikesh to Joshimath.

By Flight

The closest airport to Auli if you’re flying in is the Jolly Grant Airport in Dehradun, which is only 279 kilometers away. Once off, it’s easy to catch a taxi close to the airport or even rent a car to go to Auli.

By Train

Nearby locations such as Rishikesh, Dehradun, and Haridwar have access to railway infrastructure. The closest station to Auli is Raiwala station, which is situated close to Rishikesh and roughly 250 kilometers distant. Taxis and buses are available at the station to transport tourists to Auli.

By Road

Joshimath, which is only 16 km from Auli, is the closest bus stop or location. It is simple to take a bus via union and state transportation, or to hire a private vehicle or a taxi. Auli is 253 kilometers from Rishikesh; however, there are no direct buses from Rishikesh to Auli; instead, one must go to Joshimath from Rishikesh and then continue on to Auli.

Cable Car

The Joshimath to Auli Gorson ropeway system, which travels a 4.15-mile distance in just 22 minutes, is one of India’s longest ropeway services to date, as not many people are aware of. Auli may be reached from Joshimath with great enjoyment thanks to the ropeway system, which also offers an amazing view of the Himalayan peaks.
