Binsar | Binsar Wildlife Sanctuary

At an elevation of 2420 meters, Binsar is a verdant, dense forest spanning approximately 45 square kilometers in the Kumaon district of Uttrakhand state, India. Almora town is only 35 kilometers away from Binsar, and Nainital, the lake city, is 95 miles away. Declared a wildlife refuge in 1988, Binsar is well-known for its breathtaking scenery.

About 200 different bird species may be found in Binsar, along with Himalayan bears, foxes, musk deer, leopards, flying squirrels, and more. This area is a nature lover’s paradise because of the lush forest made up of oak and pine trees. A broad perspective of several notable Himalayan peaks, including Nanda Devi, Kedarath, and Pachachuli, may be seen from the zero point.

Things to do in Binsar?

With a broad spread area of over 45 square kilometers, the binsar offers a variety of activities. People are welcome to camp here, although it is not permitted inside the sanctuary. Nevertheless, you can reserve a spot at one of the established campgrounds in the area, which offers the opportunity to camp inside the sanctuary.

An enjoyable pastime in Binsar is a morning climb to Zero Point. There, you may also practice your photography by taking pictures of the local wildlife and birds. There are also a few temples in this area that one might visit. If the forest department allows it, you can also test your riding prowess on these routes.

What is the Best Time to visit?

The location is reachable all year round, but October through November is when the Nanda Devi Festival is held.

Monsson: There will be an abundance of flora during monsoon season, but clouds may prevent you from seeing the panoramic view from zero point.

Summer: You may enjoy the nice weather and see vistas of the high peaks of Nanda Devi, Panchachuli, Kedarath, and other places.

Winter: The temperature drops to below zero during the winter, so you’ll need to wear thick clothing, but the experience is worthwhile.

Duration: 3 Days from Delhi

Transport: Own Vehicle is recommended and we used Bikes.

Day 1

We left Delhi pretty early in the morning, and our trip on the NH 24 was fantastic. The ride was simply incredible and words cannot describe how smooth the roadway was and how we were able to witness the sunrise. We arrived in Nainital early in the morning, giving us plenty of time to explore. We started by visiting the Naini Lake, Kilburry, and Pangot. We went for Binsar after lunch and made a stop at Kai Chi Dham, a popular tourist destination halfway between Nainital and Almarai. We arrived at Almora prior to dusk and had a quick snack there. The Binsar Eco Resort is the final destination. We arrived at the resort in the evening and made our accommodations. Although there are many alternative options for stays in the Binsar Wildlife Sanctuary, we chose to stay here.

Day 2

We got there early thinking there will be more birds to watch in the morning. Many individuals visit the location throughout the day to avoid being disturbed by the noise. During the trip to Zero Point, we had the great fortune to see two foxes and a deer. Sadly, clouds prevented us from seeing the panoramic view. We stayed there for the whole day before leaving in the evening to head back to our hotel.

Day 3

The day began early in the morning and was spent entirely on rides; we did not have time to explore because we needed to go to Delhi before dark in order to get to our offices the following day.

Our Recommendation for your journey?

If you are planning to go to Binsar Wildlife Sanctuary then you may consider some of our suggestion that will depend on your interest and time you have.

1. You should reach there at around 6:00 AM so that you can go early morning ride.
2. Try hiking and take a guide if you wants to know about the flora and funa of that region.
3. Camping is one the great activity there you can try that.
4. Don’t create noise inside the sanctuary.
5. Keep a water bottle while hiking.
