The government appears to be constantly in action mode following the June 15 catastrophe on the Badrinath Highway. The Rudraprayag-Gaurikund, Kund-Ukhimath-Chopata-Mandal-Gopeshwar, and Rishikesh-Badrinath routes would not be accessible for passenger or tourist cars between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. due to accidents that have occurred in the hilly region of the state and the impending rainy season. Police officers stationed at all the district barriers have been directed by SP Dr. Vishakha Bhadane to be more proactive in examining vehicles in order to enhance the effectiveness of the system.

Remarkably, a tempo-traveller collided with a vehicle near Rantoli on the Badrinath Highway last week, killing fifteen persons, including the driver. 11 others sustained injuries in the process. Following the collision, the district’s police and administration began formulating plans to outlaw nighttime operation of passenger and tourist cars. Together, the police and the government have planned to outlaw passenger and tourist car nighttime operation on the district’s three roadways.

Vehicle prohibition from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.

A new plan has been developed by the Rudraprayag government to improve passenger safety and lower traffic accidents. The new plan prohibits all passenger and tourist cars from operating in the district between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. According to Prabodh Ghildiyal, Deputy Superintendent of Police, passenger and tourist cars will not be allowed in the hilly area after dark. There will be no issues for pilgrims with this arrangement. Additionally, this will lessen auto accidents. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami amended the requirements for drivers from hilly regions to obtain driving licenses as a result.
